Delilah McFerson Bodily, 1852-1933
"Mrs Delilah McFerson Bodily, 81, one of the first white children to be born in Kaysville, Utah, died at her home in Fairview, Idaho, Friday, July 28, 1933, due to the infirmities of old age. She was the daughter of Dimon Runnels and Mary Ann Neas McFerson, early pioneers of Utah, and was born in Kaysville, Utah, January 5, 1852. She married the late William Bodily January 4, 1875 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and moved to Fairview, Idaho, in May 1875, being among the first settlers of that part of Cache Valley. Her husband died May 31, 1927."
"Mrs Bodily had always been an active member of the LDS church. She was the mother of eight children and is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs Ray (Mary Matilda) Stewart of Gridley, California; Frank Edwin Bodily of Boise, Idaho; Charles David Bodily of Mesa, Arizona; Mrs Lyman (Lydia Emma) Lake of Rexburg, Idaho; Mrs Edis (Leah Bathsheba) Rawlings; Daniel Dimon Bodily and Herbert Neas Bodily, all of Fairview, Idaho. She is also survived by thirty-six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs Lydia Phillips, Tetonia, Idaho; Mrs John G M Barnes, Kaysville, Utah; Mrs Jacob E Layton; Mrs Matilda McFerson; Mrs Dolly Brown and David McFerson, all of Clearfield, Utah."
"Also surviving are the following step-children: William Edward Bodily, Burley, Idaho; Robert Henry Bodily, Fairview, Idaho; James Richard Bodily, Whitney, Idaho; Mrs Jane Eliza Doxey, Clearfield, Utah; and Mrs Ruth Elizabeth Layton, Layton, Utah."
"Funeral services were held in the Fairview LDS meeting house Sunday afternoon, July 30, 1933, at one o'clock under the direction of Bishop Henry Helaman Rawlings. The chapel was filled to overflowing with relatives and friends. The speakers were Bishop Rawlings, President Walter K Barton of the Franklin Stake, Robert Bodily, Leslie Cole, and Perry D Whittle. The invocation was by Warren Baird and the benediction by Joshua Ballaseon."
"The following musical numbers were rendered: selection, "Sister, Thou Wast Mild and Lovely," ward choir; vocal solo, "Absence," Dr. Eugene Worley of Preston,Idaho; duet, "Unanswered Yet," by Mrs Larue Gailey and Perry Whittle, vocal solo, "It Won't Be Long by Harace Baugh, and vocal solo, "Oh My Father," by Mrs Larue Cole. Interment took place in the Fairview, Idaho, cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Ray Stewart."
