A court case of 1863 indicates he was still in Burma, however his will of 1861 was written in Shanghai, China.
He died on 17 September 1866, at the Seaman's Hospital, Wan Chai, Hong Kong & was buried in the Colonial Cemetery.
His grave was removed from the cemetery on the development of the Aberdeen Tunnel.
