She was born on April 17, 1919, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Charles and Theresa (Kohlar) Auclair. Violet was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1937. On Sept. 1, 1941, she married Norman H. Griebling at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1977.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Judith and Richard Powers, Rice Lake; two sons and daughters-in-law: John and Evelyn Griebling, Santa Domingo, Domincan Republic; James and Joanne Griebling, Manitowoc; 12 grandchildren: Lori (Mike) Mattmiller; David (Linda) Powers; Jill (Dan) Mauro; Angela Allen; Jerry Griebling, John (Yvonne) Griebling, Johanna Griebling; Kristine (Jon) Seliger; Mark Griebling, Jeffery Griebling; Cheryl (Robert) Lammers; and 14 great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Norman T. Griebling; four sisters: Anna, Clara, Addy and Marie; and two brothers: Donald and Carl Auclair.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2007, at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2007, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
