Laura Carl (Girdner) Hooper, 58, born Nixburg, AL on Oct. 2, 1911 to Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Jane(Wilbanks) Girdner, lost her courageous battle with cancer on March 7, 1969. Mrs. Hooper formerly of Montgomery, AL, resided in Miami Beach, FL.

Mrs. Hooper is survived by her husband Fred W. Hooper, Sr., son Fred W. Hooper, Jr., daughter Mrs. Betty Green (Marshall), both of Montgomery, AL, two step-daughters Mrs. Helen Wheeler of Zurich, Switzerland and Mrs. Robin Phillips of Richmond, VA; sisters Mrs. Lavern Barlow, Miss Estelle Girdner, Mrs. Lorraine Toole, all of Montgomery, AL, Mrs. Vessie Morrison, Mrs. Annie Boston and brother Thomas J. Girdner, Jr. all of Nixburg, AL. Mrs. Hooper was preceded in death by her parents and brother Clement Girdner and sisters Miss Aline Girdner and Mrs. Jean Cowell (William).

Mrs. Hooper was a member of the Montgomery Country Club and The Surf Club of Coral Gables, FL. She and husband, Fred, shared a passion for thoroughbred horse racing and breeding, with side by side farms in Ocala, FL. His farm 'Circle H Farm' and hers 'Devotion Farm'. Mrs. Hooper loved her horses and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Hooper was a member of the University Baptist Church of Coral Gables, FL. Funeral services were held at Philbrick & Son, Coral Gables, FL. Entombment followed at Woodlawn Park Mausoleum.
