Nancy was born in Massachusetts and was the second child and only daughter of George and Ella (Stanton) Taft. After her parents divorced, Nancy and her older brother Charles was raised by their father. When she was old enough, Nancy joined the army and was able to travel the world. After getting out of the army, Nancy and her partner Sherry settled in California. Nancy's father would come out during winters to stay with them. The winters of western Massachusetts were too cold for him.
Nancy was by her father's side when he died in June of 1985. Nancy herself died of lung cancr in June 1996, leaving her partner, Sherry Gray and their dog Max. She's buried in the same cemetery as her father. Her mother is buried in Massachusetts.
