Harry Elmer Pierce was born in Washington, DC to John Franklin and Nellie J (nee Faunce) Pierce. He was brother to Catherine (Boswell), Margaret (Renzi) and Edna (Sullivan). Harry's parents separated sometime between 1935 and 1940, with John staying in DC and Nellie moving up to Buffalo, NY with the girls. They never divorced.

Harry married Helen Marie McNelly on 19 December 1927 in Washington, DC. They had 4 children; Harry Jr, Barbara (Brown), Charles and Norman. Helen and Harry divorced on 19 April 1950 in Arlington, Virginia.

Harry worked for the Chevy Chase Dairy company as a delivery driver and later as a cab driver for Diamond Cab company.

(parking facilities), on Friday, July 16, at 1 p.m. Interment Cedar Hills Cemetery. Visiting hours until 9 p.m.
