Donald Martin “Marty” Anderson, 66, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 11, 2015, at his home of complications due to pneumonia. He was under the care of his family and Encompass Hospice.

Marty was born October 4, 1948, in Butte, Montana, to Wilford Donald Anderson and Lula May Cline Anderson. He spent his early years in Butte, then moved with his family to Idaho Falls, where he grew up and attended St. Leon School until he was 16. From ages 16 to 24 he attended the Idaho State School and Hospital in Nampa, Idaho. In 1971 he returned to Idaho Falls and lived in the Yellowstone Group Homes.

Marty worked at Smith’s Food King and retired from Yellowstone Group Home’s Deli in 2013.

He was a member of New Hope Temple Church of God in Christ and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Special Needs Adult Primary. He enjoyed bowling, Special Olympics, rodeos, Elvis music, pop, coffee, western movies, taking walks, and watching Wheel of Fortune.

Marty is survived by
brother, Scott (Laurie) Anderson of Idaho Falls, ID,
sister, Linda Scalet of Suffolk, VA,
sister, Michelle (Jim) Wiest of Idaho Falls, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lula Anderson.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
