MANITOWOC—Donald W. Hall, 30, of 3214 S. 21st St., became Manitowoc County’s 15th traffic fatality this year when his car was struck at 6:05 p.m. Thursday by a tractor-trailer unit seven miles north of Francis Creek on Highway 141.
The county’s fatality count was 21 a year ago.
Hall was driving south when the semi, being driven north by Keith A. Kriedeman, 24, of Menominee, Mich., went out of control while going downhill on a curve about one-half mile north of the Maribel Caves area.
Truck Tips
The tractor-trailer unit, loaded with alewife being transported to a fertilizing plant, ended up on its side on the west die of the highway in front of a car came to rest south of the semi, it’s left side and roof demolished.
County Coroner Dr. Theodore A. Teitgen said that Hall’s body, crushed and dismembered, was found in the ditch about 50 feet north of his car.
Kriedeman, who was driving for the E.C. Swaer and Sons Co. of Pensaukee, Wis., sustained a bruised right leg and left hip. He was removed to St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, by Denmark Ambulance.
Following treatment there, Kriedeman returned to Manitowoc where he was held overnight in the county jail and charged in County Court Branch 2, Friday morning.

Kriedeman entered a plea of not guilty to the chart of operating on the wrong side of the highway and trial was set for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 30. Bail was set at $200.
