Wilbur L. Holmes, 59, of Rt. 3, Two Rives, died unexpectedly Thursday morning at his home.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Lambert Funeral Home, Mishicot, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Rev. Anthony Betley will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Holmes was born May 10, 1910, at Sterling, Ill., son of the late William and Catherine Bonk Holmes. He married the former Alice Kramer who preceded him in death and later married Lera
Farguhar at San Francisco, Calif.
From 1941 to 1945, Mr. Holmes served in the Merchant Marine, seeing active duty in the Atlantic and Pacific War zones. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was employed at
Manitowoc Engineering Co. for the past 34 years.
Survivors include his wife; stepmother, Mrs. Ann Jacobsen of Manitowoc; two sons, Wilbur Jr., of Miami, Fla., and James of Rt. 2, Two Rivers; three daughters, Mrs. Allen (J’Ette) Siebold
of Hannibal, Mo., Mrs. John (Sandra) Strohm of Two Rivers and Miss San Lee of Madison; four brothers, Elwood and William of Mishicot, Warren of Manitowoc and Allen of Appleton; two sisters, Mrs. Ambrose (Joyce) Gadzinski of Manitowoc, and Mrs. William (Betty) LaRose of Mishicot, and 12 grandchildren. Three children, Jack, who was killed in the Korean conflict, Robert and Sharon, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
