Rosemary L. (Meyer) Holschbach, age 78, De Pere, died at her home on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009.
Rose was born on June 8, 1930, in Kiel, to the late Charles and Mary (Schneider) Meyer, the youngest of their 11 children. She was united in marriage to Paul J. Holschbach on June 12, 1970, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Ashwaubenon. She graduated from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. For 40 years she taught elementary
school students. Rose had a special interest in each of her students, and in 1990, was named Teacher of the Year in the district of Ashwaubenon. She perceptively kept a list of autographs of each of the more than 2,200 students that she taught.
After retiring, she was active in working with the youth in religious education, in visiting the elderly, the sick, and those with special needs. Rose enjoyed her daily walks when she could appreciate God's gift of nature. In her quiet time she loved reading. Her cherished memories were many, one of which was that of her childhood on the family farm and trips with her husband, Paul.
Survivors include one sister: Sister Mary Dolores, Manitowoc; numerous caring nieces and nephews, including her husbands nephew and wife: Jerome and Dorothy Holschbach; and a dear friend: Corinne Gariepy.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband: Paul; her parents; four sisters: Florence Seichter; Gertrude Muehlbauer; Romilda Stemper; and Sister Alice; and five brothers: Henry, Ralph, Sylvan, Walter and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating and Deacon Keith Holschbach assisting. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Family and friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez, from 9 until 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009.
