MRS. MARY RUTLEDGE BURIED

Former Resident of Columbus Died Last Week in Nebraska—Many Friends at Funeral.

Columbus, Ill., Oct. 9.—Funeral services of Mrs. Mary Ann Rutledge, a former resident of this community, were held Friday afternoon in the Christian church and were conducted by Rev. J. T. Parrick, a former pastor and friend of the family. Many friends attended and the floral offerings were beautiful.

Mrs. Rutledge died last Monday in the home of her grand-daughter, Mrs. A. C. Lepp of Smithfield, Neb. She was born January 15, 1831, in York county, Pa., and was therefore 85 years old. On August 27, 1846, she was married to Benjamin Rutledge, who died September 4, 1905. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her children, seven of whom survive. They are: William of Columbus, Adam of Oregon, J. E. of Sublet, Kan.; George of Clayton, John of Smithfield, Neb.; Mrs. Lizzie Pollick of Crede, Colo., and Mrs. Laura Haley of Kingsdown, Kan. There are also 33 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and one sister, Amanda Baker of Joplin, Mo.
