Kenneth J. Denk, age 58, of 1605 S. 18th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday evening, June 16, 1994, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 20, 1994 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. James Stamborski with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
He was born May 7, 1936 in Manitowoc, son of Paul Denk and the late Edna Ruether Denk. He married the former LaVerne Paul on April 21, 1956 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Ken was a baker for various bakeries in the area until 1969 when he and his wife became owner/operator of Ken’s Bakery, Manitowoc, until his retirement in 1991 due to illness. He then turned the operation of the bakery over to two of his sons to ensure the family tradition. Ken was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Denk, Manitowoc; four sons and thee daughters-in-law, James Denk and a special friend, Gerri Piehl, Michael and Patti Denk, Thomas and Terri Denk, all of Manitowoc, Robert and Colleen Denk, Cato; a daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Todd Osieczanek, Manitowoc; his father, Paul Denk, Manitowoc; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Robert Kolar, Manitowoc; a brother-in-law, Anton Krepline, St. Nazianz; 10 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Krepline.
Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, where a prayer service will conclude the visitation at 8 p.m. led by Father Stamborski.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, family and friends after 3 ½ years patiently awaiting at home for a heart transplant.
