Al B. Gallenberger, age 88, of 2128 Granger Rd., Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon, May 7, 1999, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, with Rev. Mathew Simonar officiating. Cremation will have taken place with placement of his cremated remains at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

He was born July 17, 1910, at Kewaunee, Wis., son of the late Joseph and Pauline Feich Gallenberger. Al moved as a child with his family to Menominee, Mich. and attending Menominee High School. He was married to Lorayne A. Bushey, on June 5, 1937, at Menominee, Mich. After high school, he worked for the Prescott Company, in Menominee, Mich., learning the trade as a Pattern Maker. Al and his wife moved to Manitowoc, in 1941, working for the Manitowoc Ship Yards. He then moved to Champaign, Ill., in 1945, working for Alloy Casting Company. Al and his family returned to Manitowoc, in 1947, where he built, owned, and operated the Manitowoc Pattern and Manufacturing Company until his retirement in 1977. Al enjoyed golfing, fishing and watching baseball and football. He is a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, also an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Manitowoc Council #710.

Survivors include four daughters Barbara Alfson, Manitowoc, Linda Vogel, and her special friend, Bob, of Maine, Ann (Perry) Niewolny, Manitowoc, Susan P. (James) Hess, Manitowoc; ten grandchildren, Tom and his wife, Kim Alfson, Randy and his wife, L.K. Alfson, Gary and his wife, Barb Alfson, Gail and her husband, Joe Boldt, Amy and her husband, Travis Jerde, Rick Alfson, Lisa Niewolny, and her fiancé, Mort Newcombe, Jon Niewolny, and his special friend, Kelly Conard, Matthew Hess, Samuel Hess; ten great-grandchildren, Lane, Ryan, Dana, Christopher, Eric, Sara, Shannon and Sherry Alfson, Kati Boldt, Adam Jerde; one brother, Michael Gallenberger, Massachusetts; one sister, Viola Bastian, Indiana; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one sister; two son-in-laws, Lawrence (Roger) Alfson, and Keith Vogel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for the Oncology Department of Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
