Elfner, Mary Jean

Mary Jean Elfner, age 83, a resident at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, went to meet the Lord on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Shady Lane.

She was born on January 8, 1932 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Louis and Helen (Glandt) Pahl. Mary attended Oconto High School graduating with the class of 1950. In 1951 she married Russell G. Elfner and started their family of four. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2002. In addition to homemaker, Mary was a waitress for many years at Woelhoeffers and the Elbow Room. She also worked in the office of Manitowoc Engineering. Russell and Mary moved to Suring after his retirement. Following Russell's death she returned to Manitowoc.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law: Karen Elfner and Elroy Vondrachek, Cindy and Mike Wood, Mary and Mike Severin, all of Manitowoc; one son: Michael Elfner (Jessica), Suring; nine grandchildren: Lindsey (Lucas) Behnke, Leah Vondrachek and Adam Krahn, Hailey Vondrachek and special friend: Jacob Janssen, Matthew (Robyn) Wood, Sarah Wood, Hannah Severin, Jennifer Bessert, Cresta (Todd) Ische and Sean Elfner; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister and one brother-in-law: Patricia Van Hulle, Oconto, Arlend Whiting, North Carolina. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Lois Pahl and Joan Whiting; a brother: Gerard Pahl; a brother-in-law: George Van Hulle; and a nephew: Pahl Whiting.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th St., Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Beaudry.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
