GREENSBORO - At peace with life in this world, Mildred Conley Barry transitioned to everlasting life with her Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2007, in Greensboro, N.C., surrounded by loved ones. Upon arrival, she was reunited with her beloved husband, Phil who died in 1991.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2718 Horse Pen Creek Road, by Fr. William Ruhl OSFS, and Fr. Thomas Murphy OSFS.

Born in Boston, Mildred attended Boston University and worked for the Massachusetts Transit Authority prior to her 1948 marriage to Phil. In 1950, the family moved to Northern Virginia, where she raised her family. In 1984, the lure of grandchildren became too strong and she and Phil retired to Greensboro, N.C.

At St. Paul, she was involved with a host of ministries. She was a cornerstone of the Monday Morning Scripture Group. In addition, she served as a parish outreach to those new to the parish and those grieving losses, she assisted in the parish library and looked forward to assembling food baskets several times a year for those in need. She was a member of the Greensboro Council of Catholic Women and served that organization in a number of roles.

She was the daughter of Michael J. and Mildred C. Conley and the sister of Marie Armstrong, Anne Grueter and Francis Conley, all deceased.

She is survived by the family who she loved deeply: her sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Dawn Barry , Greensboro, N.C. and Mark and Kathleen Barry , Nashville, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Josh Barry , Conover, N.C., Ashley Barry , Raleigh, N.C., Ryan Barry , Greensboro, N.C. and Joe Barry , Nashville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by many friends, especially those at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

Visitation with the family will take place after the Mass. Burial will be private.
