Mrs. Laverty was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late John and Gladys (Breslin) Donnelly. She lived in the Rumford section of East Providence for many years.
Mrs. Laverty was employed by the State of Rhode Island in the finance division of the Department of Education for over sixteen years.
She was an independent tax preparer for over forty five years.
She was a longtime member of the Rumford Jr. Woman's Club, an associate with Anchor Travel in Pawtucket and enjoyed several trips to Ireland.
She leaves one son, Stephen Laverty of So. Kingstown, a daughter, Patricia Maguire of Kingston, a sister, Dorothy Donnelly of Providence and seven grandchildren: Erin Baer, Lee, William and Megan Maguire, Kyle, Michael and Ana Laverty. She was the mother of the late John Laverty and the sister of the late Robert and John Donnelly.
