Virginia "Ginne" Belknap, 91, of Marsing. She was the fifth child born to Thomas and Lydia Stephen in Springview, Nebraska, on December 2, 1923. She attended school in Springview until her family was uprooted by the dustbowl. Ginne's family moved to the Caldwell area, where Ginne graduated from Caldwell High School.
While living with her sister and brother-in-law, she met Kenneth R. Belknap, who swept her off her feet and they married December 9, 1947. The young couple homesteaded a farm in the Jump Creek area west of Marsing, Idaho.
Ginne was a true helpmate to Kenny, milking cows, tending chickens and pigs and shoulder -to -shoulder, created a home for her family. Her son Stephen was born in 1950 and daughter, Jeanne in 1953, with both children delivered by her father-in-law, Dr. Horace P. Belknap.
Besides farming, Virginia worked thirty six years for the Marsing Labor Camp and weighed beets at the beet dump every fall. She worked 14 years for the Gem Highway District, retiring at age 84.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; a sister, Lucille Lambley; brother, Donald Stephen and step-daughter Susan Wymer. She will be missed by sisters: Iola Stewart, Ilene Dobbin; brother-in-law Bill (Barbara) Belknap; son, Stephen (Nancy) Belknap; daughter Jeanne (Dan) Percifield; grandchildren, Jaime, Clinton, Nick Wood, Toni Belknap-Brinegar and nine great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ginne's Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Marsing Community Center, Marsing, ID followed by interment at the Marsing Homedale Cemetery.
