EUGENE KAUFMAN

Eugene S. Kaufman, 53, of 918 S. 13th St., Manitowoc, died Sunday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient since Thursday.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Jens Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. John Hepfner will officiate with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites will be accorded Mr. Kaufman by American Legion Drews-Bleser Post No. 88.

Mr. Kaufman was born Sept. 28, 1922, at Manitowoc, son of the late Andrew P. Kaufman and Leona Fager Kaufman. He attended Manitowoc schools and was a veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany from 1941 to 1944. He married Dorothy Allen Aug. 5, 1948,
at New London. Mr. Kaufman was Manitowoc County Board supervisor and assemblyman for the First District from 1962 to 1968. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, VFW, Amvets, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus Council 710. Mr. Kaufman owned and operated his own jewelry business, retiring in 1971 due to ill health.

Survivors include four sons, (private), his mother, Mrs. Leona Kaufman, a brother, Leo F., three sisters, Mrs. Ben (Leona) Novy, Mrs. Jerome (Mildred) Kabat, and Mrs. James (Lucille) Crabtree, and a grandson, of Manitowoc. A daughter and three brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Tuesday, where a memorial service will be at 7 p.m.
