KUHL IS FOUND DEAD IN CHAIR
Retired Harness Maker Seen In Home By Meter Man
The dead body of Joseph D. Khul, 75, retired harness maker of the city, was found propped up in a chair in front of a window at the home, 1413 Clark street, shortly before noon today by Archie Lawrence, a meter reader for the gas company.
Notified of the discovery by Lawrence, Officer Con Healy visited the home, broke open the door and found Kuhl was dead. Lawrence was making his rounds reading meters this morning but could not get into the Kuhl home. He looked in the window and saw the aged man seated in a chair with no signs of life.
Corner Gerald Rau of Two Rivers was notified but decided that no inquest was necessary.
Mr. Kuhl made his home in Manitowoc for many years and never married. Later he went to Kansas to engage in business with his brother and some years ago located in California. Twenty years ago he returned to this city and was employed for a time at the Goods company. For many years he lived a retired life in the Kuhl homestead on Clark street.
Survivors are three brothers, Nic and August Kuhl of this city and Michael of Cottonwood Falls, Kan., and two married sisters in California.
No funeral arrangements have been completed.
