Mrs. Evelyn M. Kocourek, age 84, of 716 Flambeau St., Manitowoc, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at St Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2003, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1110 S. 10th St., Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Camillus Janas, OFM with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

Evelyn was born Dec. 14, 1918, in Appleton, daughter of the late John and Florence O’Connor O’Neil. Her mother, Florence, died when Evelyn was very young, and she was lovingly raised by her stepmother, Annie Rolland Linnane. Evelyn grew up in the Maple Grove area and attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Grade School, St. Joseph’s Academy, Green Bay, and graduated from West High School in Green Bay. She married Leonard J. Kocourek on Dec. 26, 1939, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Appleton. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 1983. Evelyn worked at the Health Care Center, Manitowoc, from 1972 until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Evelyn was instrumental in establishing Al-Anon in Manitowoc County in 1959. She enjoyed people, playing cards and crocheting.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: John and Mary Jo Kocourek, Manitowoc, and their children: Dr. Erin (Daniel) Bannik of New Jersey; Matthew Kocourek, Arizona; two daughters and a son-in-law: Patricia and Paul Neuser of Manitowoc, and their children: Todd (Ann) Neuser of Grafton; Tricia Neuser of Manitowoc; Nancy Garceau of Manitowoc, and her children: Tim (Heather) Garceau of Manitowoc; Michael (Jennie) Garceau of Francis Creek; Sarah (Jeremy) Stodola of Two Rivers; Joseph Garceau of Manitowoc; five great-grandchildren: Kimberly, Emily, Alyssa and Robert Neuser; Korey Garceau; sister-in-law and special friend: Betty Ebert of Manitowoc. Other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Leonard; a son-in-law: William Garceau; and special cousin: Leslie O’Neil.
