Ralph E. (Smitty) Smith was born in Milford on April 18, 1939 to Nathen Smith and Freda Bahem.
He served in the military from 1963 to 1965.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for forty-two years, retiring in 2001.
He married Cheryl Thomson on June 19, 1970. He was the father of five sons and grandfather to four children.
Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Nathen B. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sons, Greg, Brian, Brad, Blake (Amanda), and Chase (Janeal); and grandchildren, Katie, Zayne, Alyzabeth, and Olivia. He is also survived by his sister, Clarice Cook.

Viewings will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), Murray.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East Bengal Boulevard (7800 South), Cottonwood Heights.
