Floyd E. Smith
Council Grove-Floyd E. Smith, 86, Council Grove, died early Wednesday, Nov. 28, at a Kansas City, Kan., medical center.
Mr. Smith was a pharmacist. He owned a drug store at Benton before he moved to Council Grove where he owned a drug store from 1951 until he retired in 1977. He was veteran of World War I.
He was born Aug. 7, 1898, at Douglass, the son of Eleazar and Sarah Boggs Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member of the United Methodist church and Frederick Phillips Post No. 121 of the American Legion, both at council Grove. He also was a 60 year member of Patmos Lodge No. 97, AF&AM, at El Dorado.
He was married to Peggy Myers Aug. 4, 1929, at Chanute. She died May 9, 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Elaine Thomas, St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Council Grove. Graveside services will be conducted by Patmos Lodge No. 97, AF&AM, in Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado. Mr. Smith will lie in state from 1 until 9 p.m. today at Kendall Funeral Chapel in Council Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church Building Fund in Council Grove or to the Cancer Research Clinical Oncology Endowment Fund at the University of Kansas Medical Center, 39th and Rainbow, Kansas City, 66103
