Juanita Helen (Peek) Barnett, 84, left us for her spiritual journey to Heaven on April 16, 2015. Juanita was born on June 23, 1930 to Helen and William Peek of Columbus, IN.

She spent the earliest years of her life with her grandparents, Emma and Benjamin Evelth, on their farm near Hayden, IN. Later on, she lived in Columbus IN. with her mother and stepfather, Helen and Earl Hooper.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ivan G. Barnett. Ivan and Juanita met when they were 12 years old and were the best of friends for 72 years. They had three children together: Judy Carol Barnett Burns, Chillicothe, Joe (Cathy) Barnett, Waverly, and Jay (Sonya) Barnett, Frankfort; six grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Barnett, Waverly, Ashley (Matt) Park, Chillicothe, Nate (Silvia) Barnett, Milan, Italy, Travis (Kara) Barnett, Bedford, KY, and Nick and Ben Barnett-Frankfort; seven great grandchildren, Audrey and Jacob Barnett, Waverly, Morgan and Abby Park, Chillicothe, Lorelai Barnett, Milan, Italy, and Blakely and Madalynn Barnett, Bedford, KY. She is also survived by a sister, Kathy Hooper Fernung, Tipton, IN; brother and sister in law, Don and Barbara Barnett, Louden, TN; sisters in law, Aral Graham and Judy Zeigler-Columbus, IN. She had two step grandchildren, Carrisa and Josh Hines; also many nieces and nephews all over the US who meant so very much to her and she loved hearing stories about how and what they were doing. She had three special caregivers in the last two years of her life: Linda Oyer, Charlene Martin and Kaye Austin.

While living in Indiana, Juanita attended Hayden School and graduated from Columbus High School. She married Ivan Barnett on March 10, 1950. Her favorite job of all was caring for and loving her children and grandchildren. She always had a special light in her eyes when her great grandchildren were in her presence. She was a wonderful wife, mom, and grandma. She worked at East Jackson School when she lived in Waverly, but her life was really dedicated to caring for and loving her family. Juanita grew up attending, and as a younger adult with children, attended the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church near Scipio, Ind. Later in life, she became a long time member of Frankfort Baptist Church.
