Charles Bodeen, 43, well known and a very esteemed resident of Sycamore, where he was better known by his many friends as "Bud" , died suddenly Monday morning at his home, 937 DeKalb Avenue. He had had a heart condition for sometime, but had been up and about as usual, when suddenly stricken.
He was born July 7, 1917 in Kirkland, the son of Charles and Nina Lindstrom Bodeen. The major part of his life was lived in Sycamore, where he attended school and was graduated from the local high school.
On August 2, 1940, he was married to Jeanne Stearns of Sycamore, their home being made here throughout their married years. Mr. Bodeen was employed by Charles Linden local carpenter contractor. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, also of the Sycamore V. F. W. Post and of the Elks Club.
Left to mourn his sudden passing are his wife; two sons, Michael, 12, and Randy, 9, also his mother, Mrs. Charles Bodeen, Sr., and two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Jeanne) Thibaut of Ligonier, Ind., and Mrs. Carl (Grace) Sundley of Rockford.
A family service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, from the Van Natta Funeral Home and later at 2 p.m., final rites will be conducted from the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Eric N. Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood cemetery.
Friends may call at the local funeral home after 7 p.m. this Tuesday evening.
A Memorial Fund in his memory is being established by the Lutheran Church Altar Guild.
