She passed away on April 14, 2015 and was preceded in death by her beloved twin brother, Thomas Ray Angell (106504166) in the year 2001.
She had lived in Beaumont for over 80 years and became a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church having worshiped in Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 60 years before it dissolved.
Jennie attended public schools in Beaumont having graduated from Beaumont High School in 1942 at the age of 15. She completed retail extension courses at Lamar Tech and the University of Texas. Her greatest interest was centered on people and she found Youth Guidance most rewarding. She was chairman of the advisory board of the distributive education program for the three high schools in the city for ten years 50' & 60' and was a member of the Texas Retail Personnel Association in which she held positions at a state level.
Jennie was employed by The White house as personnel director from 1945 to 1962. Then she became manager and buyer for the Evans Sturges Shop in Beaumont for nine years before accepting the managership of Margo's LaMode of Dallas which open its door in the Gateway Shopping City in 1972. Jennie, regretfully, was forced to retire from retailing due to a job related injury in 1974 and then became a 24/7 caregiver for her beloved mother.
After her mother's death in 1983, she returned to the workforce entering into a new career field (healthcare) at the Baptist Hopital of Southeast Texas, which she enjoyed to the fullest and when she found mental wages as well as real wages. She retired from Baptist Administrative Services in March, 2000.
Jennie is listed in Marquis Who's Who in American Business Women.
She was the first female juror to serve on the Beaumont Corporation Court - and was paid fifty cents for her services!!
Jennie is survived by nieces, Cynthia Winney, Jennifer Angell Broussard, Gwendylon Bedwell, Rebecca A Flentje, Judith A Christopher, Hollie Angell Kirkwood; Nephew, Thomas R. Angell, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Reverend Julie Odle officiating.
