Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 after a short illness.

Jay was born October 20, 1927 in Ogden to Lewis Leonard and Florence Edwards Galli.

Jay grew up in South Salt Lake and graduated from Granite High School and married the love of his life, Mary Jane Rollo. They were blessed with four children: Susan (Don) Vatsend, Sheri (Dan) Wells, Shauna (Mike) Lasater, and Sky (Cindy) Galli, also known as the 4 S's.

Jay made his career as a welder-pipefitter and was a member of the UA Local 140 Plumbers & Pipefitter's Union for sixty-five years.

During his long career, he was the general foreman on many major building projects, including the Church Office Building, the U of U Huntsman Center, and the refinery at Kennecott Copper.

Jay was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions, including bishop's counselor, Sunday School President, Ward Missionary, and as an assistant in his High Priest Group leadership.

Jay's greatest accomplishments were with his family who he loves so much and who love him so dearly.

He was always a wonderful example of kindness, a strong work ethic, service, honesty, integrity and charity. He always made time to help a neighbor or mentor a grandchild.

Some of his greatest joys were working on apartments, cars, and homes, as well as creating beautiful vegetable gardens.

Jay will be greatly missed.

Jay is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Mary Jane; four children, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, his sister, Karen (Frank) Noel; sister-in-law, Donna Sanns; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Donna Mae Blair; and twin sisters, Ann Drury and Diann Galli.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at the Huntsman Hospital for the exceptional care they rendered to Jay.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek. Viewings will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Monday.
