Helen Marie Miller, age 90, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Garnett.

She was born November 20, 1924, at Greeley, Kansas. Helen was the second child and the first daughter of ten children born to William Joseph and Essie Josephine Raitinger Lickteig. She grew up in the Greeley area, where she attended St. John's School and Greeley High School, graduating in 1943. Following high school she worked in Kansas City at Kansas City Life until her marriage to Harold J. Miller. She was united in marriage to Harold on April 17, 1945 at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley. They held the honor of Harold being the first man from the parish and Helen being the second woman from the parish to be married in the newly constructed church. This union was blessed with two children, Helen Joan and John Richard. They made their home on her grandfather's farm, southeast of Greeley, until moving to Garnett in 2007.

Helen was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church, Greeley; she was also a member of the Altar Society, serving as Past President as well as other offices. She was a 60 plus year member of the Greeley VFW Auxiliary, serving in all offices and on district level chairmanships. Helen could always be counted on to help with projects from anything she was involved in. Helen was always friendly and helpful, spreading happiness wherever she went. Her kindness will always be cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold, April 10, 2013; daughter, Joan Dickey, April 5, 1975; two brothers, Robert Donovan Lickteig and Paul William Lickteig; and two sisters, Florine Hermreck and Eva Bastian.

Helen is survived by her son John Miller and wife Margie of Garnett; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Rev. Anthony J. Lickteig of Overland Park, Kansas and Walter B. Lickteig and wife, Dorothy of Greeley; and three sisters, Rita Peterson and husband, Carol of Greeley, Loretta Lickteig of Paola, Kansas, and Wilma Peine and husband, Joe of Greeley.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church, Greeley. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends following a 7:00 PM Rosary on Tuesday evening at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Condolences may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
