Daughter of Isaac Manning and Harriet A. Crasper, natives of the Catskill region who moved to NYC by 1850. Young Harriet appears enumerated in their household in the 1850 and 1860 US Censuses, and the 1855 NY State Census, all for Manhattan.

She married Irish native Edward Curley. He was the informant for her death certificate, which contains some some minor errors. For example, it lists her father's birthplace as NYC, but in fact he was born in the Catskill region. Also, her mother's first name is listed as "Amelia" instead of Harriet. Amelia likely was the middle name of her mother, as it was of Harriet herself.

With Edward she had children:

Harriet (1868-?)
Charles (1870-1895)
Emma (c. 1872-?)
Henry "Harry" (1874-1930)
Florence (c. 1878-?)
Annie (1880-?)
Elmer H. (after 1880-1884)
Elton James (1884-1884)

According to the 1900 US Census for the Bronx, she had had 10 children in total, of which 5 or 6 were still alive at that time.
