Robert L. Helvey, age 67, died Saturday in a Roanoke hospital. He was born February 15, 1924, at Red Sulphur Springs, W.Va. and was the son of the late William M. and Lelia McDaniel Helvey. Mr.

Helvey was a retired sheet metal worker, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the John Dove Lodge No. 78 AF & AM, and a member of the order of Eastern Star No. 118 at Peterstown. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.

He is survived by his wife, Aretta Harry Helvey; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pam Helvey, Peterstown, W.Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Broyles, Ballard, W.Va.; Mrs. Zelma Meadows, Princeton, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Michael, Chris, Jodi, and John Helvey.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Broyles Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown with the Rev. Howard Spencer and the Rev. Jonathan Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where memorial services will be conducted by the Peterstown Order of the Eastern Star at 7:00 Sunday evening.
