Brian served with the Jackson Police Department from February 14, 1993, until October 22, 1997. He participated in the following schools to attain excellence in his career. Criminal Intervention Patrol, Basic Homicide Intervention, Basic Canesics, Field Sobriety Certification, and Evidence Technician.

He served on the gun interdiction team and other special forces teams. Brian was awarded police officer of the month in November, 1993. Upon his death, he was awarded 'top gun' and given the 'badge of valor' and 'medal of honor'.

He was dedicated to his work and was killed in the line of duty trying to save two young children he did not even know.

In our hearts Brian will always be our hero. To those who knew him, his memory will never grow old.

Brian Kinsey was a Police Officer for the City Police Department in Jackson, Mississippi. He worked for the Police Force for 5 years. He died in the line of duty at age 27. He was summoned to a domestic disturbance in progress. He had just arrived at the scene when he was shot with a shotgun while approaching the home. After he fell down, the suspect walked up to him and shot him again, while he was down on the ground. Officer Kinsey's rookie partner returned fire, but missed the cagey subject. The suspect fled back into his home, barricaded himself in. After a two hour standoff, Officers used tear gas to flush him out. The suspect rushed out and pointed his gun at Officers, the Police Officers shot and killed him. Officer Kinsey had a wife and daughter.
