Gladys May Meyer, age 82, a resident of rural Valders, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at her residence.She was born on November 19, 1934 in the Town of Eaton, daughter of the late Edward and Selma (Behnke) Hackbarth. She graduated from Sheboygan North High School and on September 4, 1954, Gladys married Alan Meyer at Fountain Park Church, Sheboygan. She loved gardening, cooking, canning, spending time with family and taking care of her grandchildren.Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years: Alan Meyer, Valders; their eight children: Douglas Meyer (fiancé Linda Thiel), Stillwater, MN, David (Laurel) Meyer, Manitowoc, Dianna (Robert) Niesen, Kiel, Dean (Jayne) Meyer, New Holstein, Donna DeRosa, Eau Claire, Doreen (Jon) LaMirande, New Richmond, Deborah (Daryl) Peterson, Reedsville, and Dawn Meyer (and fiancé Donald Smoot), Elkhart Lake; 21 grandchildren: Julie, Kenzie, Angela, Pamela, Joseph, Jeffrey, Laura, Joshua, Jamie, Andrea, Kate, Sasha, Aric, Alicia, Antonio, Sara, Jacob, Ethan, Rachel, Alayna, and Kayla; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother: Larry (Diane) Hackbarth, Sheboygan Falls; one sister-in-law: Kathy Hackbarth, Brown Deer; sisters-in-law: Joyce Voigt, Oconomowoc, Bernice Schneider, Valders, Doris Meyer, Manitowoc, and Sally Meyer, Newton. She is further preceded in death by her son-in-law: Joseph Gries; sisters: Beatrice (Kenneth) Mattes, Jeanette (Alton) Erickson; her brother: Delmar Hackbarth; four brothers-in-law: Lloyd Meyer, Gene Meyer, Henry Voigt, and Elwood Schneider; and one sister-in-law: Margie (Ronald) Breuckman.Per Gladys's wishes private family services will be held and Gladys will be laid to rest at Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
