Janet Bloom Brooker COLUMBIA- passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015. She was born in Charlotte October 2, 1925, to Charles Edwin Bloom and Grace Hatcher Bloom. She moved with her family to Columbia at age 3 and graduated from Dreher High School and attended Converse College before graduating from the University of South Carolina. Janet was married to Beacham O. Brooker, Jr., for 41 years. She was predeceased by her husband; two sisters, Betty Bloom True and Dorothy Bloom Walker; and a brother, Charles Edwin Bloom, Jr. She was a charter member of St. Martin's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, a founding and life-long member of The Bridge Club and a member of Forest Lake Club and the Columbia Ball. Janet is survived by her daughters, Julia Barnes Brooker and Ellen Brooker Corontzes (Dino) and a son, Beacham O. Brooker, III (Beth) all of Columbia; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kennedy Brooker, Grace Hatcher Brooker, Arthur Brooker Corontzes and Beacham Owens Corontzes. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 21 at St. Martin's in-the-Fields Episcopal Church on Clemson Avenue with burial following in the church Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the burial at a reception in the Parish Hall.
