Russell E. Paine, 71, formerly of Tremont, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1993, at Morton Health Care Center in Morton, where he had lived for two years.
Born Aug. 3, 1922, in Tremont to James and Nellie Thompson Paine, he married M. Virginia Schwinn on Dec. 3, 1944, in Staten Island, N.Y. She died Feb. 24, 1993.
He also was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Alan (Sandy) Sanders of Tremont; two brothers, Cecil of Tremont and Harold of Mason City, Iowa; and four sisters, Hazel Brandt of East Peoria, and Verla Goss, Velda Whitney, Mary Gardner, all of Pekin.
He worked for R.A. Cullinan & Son in Tremont for many years, retiring in 1986.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Tremont American Legion Post 1236. He was a member of Tremont Masonic Lodge 462, AF&AM.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont.
