Viola A. Leiker, age 92, formerly of 610 n. 7th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday evening, April 6, 1996, at the home of her daughter at 3104 45th St., Two Rivers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 1996, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Rev. William Zimmer will officiate with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born July 15, 1903, in the township of Cooperstown, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Patrick H. and Agnes Geimer Dewane. She grew up in the township of Cooperstown attending local schools and graduated from Denmark High School. Viola then attended Manitowoc County Normal. After graduation she taught schools at Stark and Jennings, Wis. She married Ben Lieker September 12, 1929, at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown. Ben preceded her in death August 18, 1989. Viola lived at Manitowoc for many years and moved to the home of her daughter in Two Rivers in July, 1991. She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, former member of the Rosary Society, and a former member of the G.U.G. Germania Society.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin and Mary Leiker, Lake Linden, Mich., John and Zita Leiker, Dayton, Ohio, Patrick and Freda Leiker, Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Richard Sterne, Key Largo, Fla., Marilyn and Roger Barner, Two Rivers, Gloria and Richard Bratz, Valders; 10 grandchildren, Patrick Steven Leiker, Diane Leiker, Suzanne Leiker, Marilyn Ann Barner, Kathy Rubich, Deb Olkkonen, Beth Verville, Jane Leiker, Ben Leiker Jr., Julie Leiker; 10 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Chris Kimberly Rubich, Kristen, Rebekah and Elizabeth Olkkonen, Jacqueline, Jessica and Danielle Verville, Grant Lensch; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Val Dewane, Mr. Dorothy Leiker, Mr. Olive Leiker, Mrs. Edith Handl. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, five sisters, Margaret Golata Simon, Catherine Zeddies, Agnes Krejcie, Mary Kane, Dorothy Wacek; three brothers, Sheridan, Edward and John Dewane; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Leiker.
Relatives and friends may call at Reinbold and Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends may also call on Friday at Sacred Heart Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.
