Ronald Lee Abbott, 79, of Fleming, went to be with the Lord on the morning of April 19, 2015, at Marietta Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Ronald (Ronnie) was born in Marietta, Ohio, on July 4, 1935, to the late Leonard and Marie (Skipton) Abbott.

Ronald graduated from Waterford High School in 1953. He proudly served in the United States Navy on board the USS Lake Champlain and USS Tarawa from 1955 to 1959. He worked at Globe Metallurgical for 28 years and retired from Eramet in 1997. On June 25, 1956, he married Vera (Kenney) who has been by his side for 59 years.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Cindy (Mike) Jeffers and grandson; two sons, Doug (Lori) and grandchildren, and Brian (Dana) and grandchildren. Ronald is also survived by his brothers, Gordon (Shirley) of Marietta and Dave (Dolores) of Cutler; sister, Lois Pugh of Cutler and sister in law, Janet Abbott, of Marietta.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ralph and Glen, sister in law, Rose Abbott, brother in law, Max Pugh and a niece, Roxie Neville.

Visitation at the Barlow Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. Ronald will be laid to rest at Barlow Central Cemetery, with full military honors.
