She was born December 2, 1911 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of P. N. and Bettie Cloyd House. She was a retired school teacher and librarian at the Burning Springs Elementary and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter: Betty Sue Smith of Fogertown, her grandchildren: Sherri Smith of London, Marcel Smith of Lexington, Billie Cornett of London, Karen Carreras of Mt. Kisco, New York, and Steve Cornett of Fogertown. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Brett Smith, Paloma Diego, and Victor Carreras.
She is preceded in death by her parents: P. N. and Bettie House, her husband: Willie Cornett, her son: Perry Cornett, and her granddaughter: Zylphia Marie Cornett.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Burning Springs Elementary School Library to buy books for students.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Marie H. Cornett will be conducted on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10 AM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Bolin and Rev. Dallas Riggs will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 3, after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
