Please Note: Raymond's obituary, which I have transcribed below, stated that he was born in Bridgeport, Iowa. I am not certain this is correct. Bridgeport is in Jackson County, Iowa, and I find no indication that the family lived there in 1914, although it is possible that Raymond was born somewhere other than the town they lived in. In the 1925 Census for Monroe County, Iowa, Raymond's birthplace was shown as Eddyville, Iowa.

If Raymond was born in Eddyville, I am uncertain which county he was born in. The town of Eddyville lies in three counties: Monroe, Mahaska, and Wapello. In the 1910 Census, Raymond's parents were living in Wapello County. In 1920, Raymond was five-years-old and was living with his parents in Monroe County, Iowa, and he was still in Monroe County with his parents in 1925 and 1930.

The obituary for Raymond's father, William, stated that William lived in Monroe County for most of his life and had worked in many Monroe County mines.
