Elmer E. Mackey, 77, of 912 Lincoln Blvd., Manitowoc, who resided at Manitowoc Health Care Center died Friday in Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 9:30 am Monday in Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo Schmidt will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Mackey was born Aug. 25, 1901 in Finland, son of the late Eli and Annie Mackey. He came to the United States with his parents residing near Gilbert, Minn. He married Ann Kolbeck Oct. 4, 1934 in Glasgow, Montana. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1940 residing here since. He worked for Peppard and Fulton Construction Company of Superior, Wis., on projects including the Fort Peck Montana Dam and the overseas highway to Key West, Florida. Prior to his retirement in 1963, Mr. Mackey had been employed for 25 years at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. He was a member of Boilermakers Local 443.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Shirley of Wauwatosa; two daughters, Jean and Ellen Mackey of Manitowoc; a brother, Ernest of Virginia, Minn.; two grandchildren, Lucy and James Mackey, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call in Pfeffer Funeral Home from 6 o’clock to 9 o’clock this Sunday evening where a prayer service will be conducted at 6:30 pm.
