David Martell, 43, proprietor of "Dave's Place" on Highway 141, half a mile west of Calumet crossing, passed away at the hospital this morning, following a stroke. He has been a resident of the county for the past twenty years.
Mr. Martell was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan, March 9, 1888 and came to this state while still a young man. He resided in Illinois for a short time but returned to Wisconsin. He served in the 129th infantry of the 33rd division, and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On June 25, 1920 he married Miss May Peterson who survives him.
He will be buried from the St. Boniface church Saturday morning at nine. Interment will be at the Calvary cemetery. The only survivors, in addition to Mrs. Martell are three brothers, William at Two Rivers, Albert of Los Angeles, Philip of Los Angeles, and one sister, Mrs. Mandy St. Tons of Menominee, Michigan.
