She was born Oct. 11, 1913 in Manitowoc, Wis., daughter of the late Michael and Theresa Bradl Wellner. She married Alphonse Meyer on June 25, 1935 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1976. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1931 and following her graduation she worked as a beautician in the Manitowoc area. Mrs. Meyer was also instrumental in the founding of the original Manitowoc Senior Citizen Center. After a years as a volunteer she was hired as program director and served in that capacity for 16 years until her retirement in 1978. She was past president of the Band and Orchestra Mothers of the Manitowoc Public School System and a past president of the league of Women Voters. She was also an active member of the AARP.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Kitty) and Peter Rosland of Manitowoc; three sons and four daughters-in-law, Mathew (Mike) and Margie Meyer of Manitowoc, Ronald and Jane Meyer of Manitowoc, Dave and Cindy Meyer of Manitowoc and Lynn Meyer Dufek of Branch; one brother, Sylvester Wellner of Manitowoc; nine grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Jenner, Derik, Todd, Kari, Jonathan, Ann and Tony. One great grandson, Dylan and also surviving a very special friend and companion, Abner Anderson of Manitowoc. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas A. Meyer on Feb. 10, 1990, two brothers and one sister. Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 9 pm.
