Peter Mittnacht, 83 (above), of 618 South 26th street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning at Holy Family hospital following an illness of six months.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Mittnacht funeral home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic church, the Rev. Clement Kern officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Mittnacht was born in 1867 in Germany and came to this county at the age of 14 and made his home with a brother near Branch. In 1887 he married Annie Coutley and they lived in a farm home near Branch, moving to Branch in 1893. Mr. Mittnacht was assistant bridge and building foreman for the Chicago and North Western railway for 10 years and for 40 years was water supply foreman for the railroad in this district. He retired after 50 years service. His wife died in 1935.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William C. Kurth of Manitowoc; three sons, Lester of Manitowoc, Eugene of Two Rivers, and Vernon of route 2, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and of the St. Paul Holy Name society. Friends may call at the Mittnacht funeral home from Thursday noon until time of services Friday. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday.
