Michael J. Morris Jr., age 56, of 2516-12th St., Two Rivers, died Friday night December 4, 1998 at Two Rivers Community Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 7, 1998, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born September 5, 1942 in Manitowoc, son of Michael P. and Jeanette Smejkal Morris. He attended schools in Two Rivers and was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School. Mike was employed with Eck Foundry for 22 years until his retirement. On Feb. 25, 1971 he was married to June (Mahies) Lawerentz in Manitowoc. Mr. Morris was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish, the WCUB Breakfast Club, and a member of A.A. for 29 years. He was a dedicated and avid Packer fan and an overall sports fan. He enjoyed playing the accordion and fishing. Mike will be missed by his constant companions "Spotty: and "Cooler."
Survivors include his wife, June; his mother and father, Michael and Jeanette (Smejkal) Morris, Two Rivers; three step-daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and David Knipp, Florida; Kathy and Bruce Brefczynski, Manitowoc; Sherry and Richard C. Karnes, Two Rivers; nine grandchildren, Jill, Beth, and Justin Brefczynski, Mark Knipp and fiancée Wendy, Scott and Joseph Knipp, Danielle Olivera, Kimberly and Rachael Lawerentnz (sic); one brother, Robert J. Morris and special friend Cheryl, rural two Rivers; one sister and brother-in-law, Peg and Alan Wondrash, Green Bay; three sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Birkholz, Two Rivers, Shirley Comers and Lorraine McClure, Illinois; a great uncle, Donald Shaw, Two Rivers; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
Friends may call at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapel, Two Rivers, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday (TONIGHT) and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. A parish wake service will conclude the visitation at 730 p.m. Sunday (TONIGHT) at the funeral home, led by Fr. Bill.
Mike was a beloved friend to all who knew him and had a kind word for everyone.
