Richard T. Morris, age 88, of 1328 S.14th Street, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, March 28, 2012 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 7, 1924 in Manitowoc, son of the late Stephen A. & Minnie A. (Heise) Morris. Richard was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1941. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving for three years in the Submarine Division during World War II as an electrical mate 2nd Class on the U.S.S. Cod. He also served four tours of duty in the South Pacific being honorably discharged on April 6, 1946. On June 28, 1947 he married the former Edith Miller at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Richard was employed as a bricklayer for Kasper Construction for 10 years. He retired from Lakeside Machine Shop after 32 years of employment. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 and the U.S. Sub Veterans of World War II.
Survivors include his wife: Edith Morris, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law: Susan & David Huelsbeck, Neenah, Ruby & Donald Orth, Manitowoc; three grandchildren: Brian Huelsbeck & His wife Mellissa, Kevin Huelsbeck & his wife Ann, Lisa Klein & Her husband Ryan; five great grandchildren: Brenden, Kylee, Ben, Maddie and Lauren; and one sister: Alice Lakatos, Manitowoc. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law: Kathryn & Merlin Koukalik and Joseph Lakatos. He is further preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Howard Miller & his wife, Dorothy; and tow sisters-in-law; Ruth Heinrichs & her husband Arthur and Marilyn Plederl & her husband George.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Viertel with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Manitowoc. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 until 10:45 a.m.
