CAROLYN ANN FLORES (YASUKO KUKITA) June 26, 1930 ~ March 23, 2011 Passed away with her family by her side on March 23, 2011. She was born on June 26, 1930 in Kinshu, Kantoshu, Manchuria. During WWII, when Yasuko was a young teenager, she was a survivor of the Soviet concentration camps located in Manchuria. After the war she lived with her family in Kagoshima, Japan before moving to the United States in 1956. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Takeo and Yukie Kukita; her siblings, Kunihiko, Hiroshi, Haruko, and Masako Kukita. She is survived by her 5 children, Mary Flores, Elizabeth Porter, Robert Flores (Candace), Barbara Flores-Lewis (Kevin) and Monica Perry (Bob). Carolyn has 13 grandchildren to whom she dedicated her life; brothers, Takehiko and Kazuhiko Kukita; special nephew, Kazuo Kukita and her extended Japanese family. She took great pride in teaching her family Japanese customs, history, and culture. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, 92501. Interment will be private. Reception to follow at the home of her daughter, Monica Perry. Arrangements under the direction of Acheson & Graham Mortuary (951) 688-1221.
