Lawrence E. "Larry" Beckell, 91. of Alma, IL
died April 20, 2015 in the care of his family.
A machinist by trade, he began his career with
Spence-Harris, and later P.J.'s Supplies and
Dikirson-Davis. He loved to fish and hunt
mushrooms on a 4 wheeler. He attended the
First Baptist church in Salem. He served the
United States Army.
Graveside Funeral services for Larry Becktell
will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23 at the
Summit Prairie Cemetery in rural Salem with
Dr. Andy DeWitt Officiating. There will be no
public visitation. Memorials may be made to
the Celtic Hospice and will be received by the
Rankin Funeral Home in Salem.
Born June 25, 1923 in Oblong, he was the son
of Clarence Leroy and Virgil Mae (Mikeworth)
Becktell who preceded him in death. He
Married Betty Jo Henderson, his wife of 71
years on November 15, 1942 in St. Charles,
MO. She prceded him in death March 2,2014.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is
preceded in death by 1 brother, 1 sister,a
son-in-law Bill Clifton and his granddaughter,
Meghan Jo Patterson.
