On the 1850 Lexington, VA census, I found VMI Professor Edward R Colston, 27, born in France; rest born in Virginia: Louisa M Colston, 35; Mary F Colson, 1; Petra L Brown, 11 and Louisa L Colston, 3, VA born. Based on this Jane was born after this census. Mary F was 11 on the 1860 census.
The W&L Univesity survey here says Jane died 2 Jun 1852, though little is legible on her marker today.
