She was born July 19, 1915 to Silas Lorenzo and Lilly Letitia Davis Rogers and grew up in Salt Lake City.
She attended South High School the first year it opened its doors in 1932 and graduated two years later. She was an avid swimmer, talented seamstress, and loved bowling, she'd once bowled a perfect game.
She married Charles William Atkinson on June 19, 1940; later divorced. She raised her three surviving children as a single mother. Married Thomas F. Garner on February 24, 1968; he died in 1997.
She lived in Salem for twenty-two years before moving to Riverton.
She loved gardening and always had a large garden and orchard and willingly shared the fruits of her labors. She had an excellent memory and often shared her memories with family and friends.
She loved to read and in her later years when she could no longer see to read, she listened to audio books by her favorite authors.
Active member of the LDS Church and a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Eugene Paul Atkinson; daughter, Catherine Wray; and siblings, Silas Rogers, Kate Rogers, and Ila Mulcock. She is survived by sons, Roger Atkinson (Janet) and Dwight Atkinson (Norma); son-in-law, Robert Wray; fourteen grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverton Seventh Ward Chapel, 12459 South Dansie Way, Riverton. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
