Johanna K. (Jane) Sprang, age 91, of 1825 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, September 29, 2011 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
Jane was born on June 3, 1920 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late John and Agnes (Migacz) Komos. On October 9, 1952 she married Clement Sprang at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1958.
Jane resided in Manitowoc until 1982 and then lived in California, moving back to Manitowoc in 2003. Jane was a former member of the Rosary and Altar Society of Santa Barbara Catholic Church and was an active volunteer in the RSVP Program in California. She was honored as the Volunteer of the Year of Southern California in 1999. Jane was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law: Dennis Sprang and Dean Sprang, both of Manitowoc, Dale & Ann Sprang, Racine; two sisters: Marie Balko and Theresa Cisler; a brother: Joseph (Elsie) Koneczka, all of Manitowoc; two grandchildren: Chad & Jessie; and three great grand- children: Blake, Summer and Adrianna. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Duane Sprang; a brother Sylvester Koneczka; and a sister: Louise Schmidt.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 3, 20 11 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Monday October 3, 2011 until 10:15 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
