Gladys was born Jan. 13, 1919, daughter of the late Clifford and Frieda (nee-Sampe) Gunderson. She graduated from Hillside School in Manitowoc in 1932, and went on to high school and graduated from Lincoln Senior High, class of 1936. On Sept. 6, 1940, Gladys married Joseph G. Tienor at St. Mary's Clarks Mills. He preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1993. She worked in the business office for the Mirro Corporation for a number of years. She then went on to raise five daughters and help her husband with the bookkeeping for Tri Motors. Gladys was a member of the former St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Gladys was very proud of the certificate she received for her dedication to the families of the Manitowoc community during her years of service from 1973 through 2004 as a charter member of the Citizens' Advisory Commission on Disability & Sensory Impairment.
Gladys is survived by her five daughters and three sons-in-law: Katherine (Ray) Wimmer, Manitowoc, Karen (James) Hendrickson, Wheaton, Ill., Joanne (Greg) Becker, Janesville, Judy Lucas, Chicago, and Marie Tienor, Manitowoc; her grandchildren: David (Kari) Wimmer, Kohler, Brian (Kelly) Wimmer, Manitowoc, Linda (Keith) Kocourek, Wausau, Nathan (Annette) Wimmer, Manitowoc, Eric (Shelley) Hendrickson, Villa Park, Ill., Chris (Lynn) Hendrickson, Aurora, Ill., Jason Hendrickson, Wheaton, Ill., and Jeff (Theresa) Becker, Janesville; 10 great grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Emil (Florence) Tienor, Brillion, Victor Koerner, Manitowoc, and Elwyn Schommer, Shakopee, Minn. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Gladys was preceded in death by her two sisters: Janet Schommer and Bernice Downs; one brother: John Tienor; four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Marie Koerner, Rose (Bert) Meyer, Arnold (Albertha) Tienor, and Leonard (Mabel) Tienor, and two nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton, with entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
