Alvin L. Walters, age 77, of Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2006, at home. Alvin was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Manitowoc, son of the late Wendelin and Louisa (Leikam) Walters.

On June 20, 1959, he married the former Rosalie Blashka at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years: Rosalie Walters; his children (and their families): Kenneth Walters; Jeanette and Jim Schwiegl (Brian, Paul, Katie); Mike Walters (Tiffany); Margie and Dean Konsela (Shannon and Joe, Doug, Lena and Mike); Luke and Sandy Walters (Robert, Josh, Alex); Ruth Hickmann (Erin, Ann and Zeb, Erik, Ryan, David, Ben); Elizabeth and Curt Bowen (Samantha, Matthew); and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister: Cyrilla Rozmarynowski. He is further survived by sisters-in-law: Dorothy Walters, Sally Walters, and Lucille Wasmer, along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law; Gary Hickmann; eight brothers: Felix, Victor, Elmer, Fidelis, Floyd, Lloyd, Alvin (his namesake), and Harry; five sisters: Clara Brull, Marcella Tadych, Josephine Wachowski, Irene Komoroski, and Ida Grotbak; and sister-in-law: Gertrude Schultz; and brother-in-law: John Blashka. He was also preceded in death by many dear nieces and nephews.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Grand Avenue and South 14th, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, until the time of service at 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 25, 2006 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Grand Avenue and South 14th, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Monsignor Jim Vanden Hogen, with inurnment of the cremated remains at Calvary Mausoleum. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
